The Seattle Monorail station has a set of televisions displaying a “fun facts” video loop of animated infographics. It’s an interesting fact-dump of the sorts of things you’d expect: when it was built, who built it, how much it cost to build, how much it cost to ride then-and-now, top speed, how many passengers it holds, and so on.
One fact is that it takes 2 minutes to make a one-way trip.
I decided this would make a good excuse to use Hyperlapse, a time-lapse video recorder from Instagram that I rarely get the chance to use.
I shared a truncated version on Instagram, but that version isn’t as nice. Instagram enforces a few constraints — namely, the video must be square (so the top part of the Space Needle got truncated) and must be less than 15 seconds, meaning I had to discard the first 10 seconds of hyperlapse.
